M. S. Ali is an independent scholar and freelance educator.
His research has been supported by competitive grants from The Gates Foundation and the James B. Duke Endowment.
Ali received a world-class education. He obtained his B.A. in Gender Studies from the University of Chicago (2013) and his Ph.D. in History from Duke University (2023).
Dr. Ali's first book is under contract with Bloomsbury, the same press behind modern classics from Harry Potter to Truth and Method.
Dr. Ali teaches custom online tutorials on history to middle and high school students, through Lumiere Education. He has previously freelanced with WyzAnt and Crimson Education.

Dr. Ali builds tutorials around his students' interests. His teaching approach focuses on curating interesting, important primary source documents to help students understand the past on their own terms. He guides students through the research and writing process using detailed, step-by-step instructions and clear expectations about the final paper. Dr. Ali's ultimate goal is to teach students how to conduct their own independent research projects.
Dr. Ali has led courses on such topics as: the causes of the Russia-Ukraine War; the global reactions to Woodrow Wilson's rhetoric during the Paris Peace Conference; and the weakness of nuclear non-proliferation treaties between the United States and its allies.
